From May 12th to 14th, an expert group from the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development (MOHURD) conducted an on-site inspection of our university's Urban and Rural Planning program. The group, led by Professor Geng Hong of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, included Yuan Xinzheng, a senior engineer at the China Urban Planning Association, and Zhang Lipeng, a researcher-level senior engineer at the Liaoning Provincial Urban and Rural Construction Planning and Design Institute Co., Ltd..

On the morning of May 12th, the expert meeting was held in the first lecture hall on the second floor of the North Campus Service Hall. All members of the expert group and Vice President Pei Jianzhong were in attendance. The meeting was divided into two sessions, chaired by Zhao Xianwei, Director of the Education Research and Evaluation Center, and Professor Geng Hong, head of the expert group.

On behalf of the university, Pei Jianzhong welcomed and thanked the expert team for their visit and guidance. He then provided a brief overview of the university, focusing on its history, current development, unique characteristics, and achievements in talent development. Geng Hong, on behalf of the expert team, outlined the arrangements for the on-campus inspection. The meeting also heard a report from Professor Hou Quanhua, Dean of the School of Architecture, on the development, construction, and education of the Urban and Rural Planning program.

Expert Meeting

During the inspection, the expert group members visited the school history museum, library, the Ministry of Education Key Laboratory of Groundwater Hydrology and Ecological Effects in Arid Areas, and the Ministry of Education-China Mobile Joint Laboratory for "Internet of Vehicles" and related teaching and experimental sites; reviewed relevant teaching materials and management documents; observed the lectures of teachers and course teaching activities; and held a symposium with teachers, administrators, current students, graduates and representatives of employers.

On-site Inspection

On the morning of May 14th, the expert group's feedback meeting was held in the first lecture hall on the second floor of the North Campus Service Hall. All members of the expert group and Vice President Pei Jianzhong attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Professor Geng Hong, the expert group leader.

Geng Hong read out the evaluation report on the Urban and Rural Planning program. The expert panel concluded that Chang'an University's Urban and Rural Planning program, in response to industry development and educational transformation, has fully leveraged its disciplinary and engineering expertise, maintained a student-centered approach, continuously optimized its undergraduate teaching system, and established clear educational goals, fostering a distinctive talent cultivation model characterized by a solid foundation, down-to-earth work style, a down-to-earth approach, and strong hands-on skills.

Feedback Meeting

Pei Jianzhong expressed sincere gratitude to the expert group for their concern and guidance for Chang'an University's Urban and Rural Planning program, noting that the group's comments and suggestions were precise, pertinent, and crucial, providing important guidance for the program's development. He stated that the university will use this evaluation as an opportunity to carefully review and rectify issues, implement the division of labor, promote continuous improvement, and effectively elevate the development of the Urban and Rural Planning program to a new level.

Heads of the Education Research and Evaluation Center, the Publicity Department, the Student Affairs Department/Armed Forces Department, the Youth League Committee, the Academic Affairs Office, the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, the Admissions and Employment Office, the Personnel Office, the Finance and Planning Office, the Practice Management Office, the International Cooperation Office, the Information and Network Office, the Logistics Office, the Library and other units, as well as the leaders of the School of Architecture, the heads of majors and representatives of teachers and students participated in the meetings.
